School garden produce can be used in a variety of ways at school, such as in the cafeteria, taste tests, cooking, or nutrition education. But it can also serve as a source of food for families and the broader community and be a part of the solution for nutrition security.
During this month, while we’re in the heat of summer and many school gardens are thriving with excess produce, we will be featuring the history of school gardens as a tool for food security in the U.S., and sharing examples of how school garden programs share their produce with their communities.
